Why Gear Coop?

The people and the culture. The ability for me to bring my dog Whiskey to work is amazing. I’m pretty sure he gets greeted more often than I do.

Outdoorsy Stereotype

I drive a Subaru. Ooooh that Subaru love!

Next Gear Purchase

I bought my bright green Gregory Jade 30 backpack (psst, we like this one too!) for myself on my 23rd birthday, and it has been through all sorts of adventures with me. I’ve indulged every year on my birthday since with a new piece of gear, and this year I’m wishing for a . . . Sprinter Van?! But I’d be totally fine with a good bottle of wine poured into a travel tumbler and perhaps a good friend to drink it with . . Hint Hint MEGAN

Wanderlusting

Yosemite National Park for a place I’ve been. Glacier National Park for a place I’ve yet to visit

Upping the Sticker Game

My favorite sticker is the Experts Only skull and crossbones for Kirkwood’s The Wall, a double black diamond ski route. I bought the sticker immediately after I made it down The Wall and placed it on my Subaru’s back side window. When someone recognizes the sticker and points out they know Kirkwood or that they’ve been down The Wall, it brings a unique sense of connection only possible by sharing an experience in such a cool place as Kirkwood.

All people have something to bring to the table

I’ve been working in male-dominated industries all my life. A butcher shop, a hardware store, firefighting and EMT work have shown me all people have something to bring to the table. It’s about focusing on your own abilities, understanding that there is always room for improvement and taking inspiration from others.

#thriveoutside means

It means to make the most of it when being outdoors and to find things in your adventures that make you a better person for yourself and for the world around you. Life changing moments can happen outside in the simplest and also most complex of moments. Breath it all in and convert those moments into something awesome.
